YOGYAKARTA, 16 September 2026 — Halal Club Yogyakarta (HCY) strengthens the direction of movement and collaboration in developing the halal ecosystem in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta through a Special Meeting for Preparing the Vision, Mission and Manifesto HCY, Wednesday (16/9/2026), in Room Yudistira, Bima Building, City Hall Yogyakarta.
The meeting, which took place at 09.00–12.00 WIB, became a consolidation forum for various stakeholders to formulate strategic directions HCY while strengthening cross-sector synergies. This meeting is also part of the Road to Jogja Halal Fest #3 International 2026 series, which will be held on 4–6 December 2026 at Jogja Expo Center (JEC), Yogyakarta.
In this forum, hopes emerged that HCY could develop to an international level and take a role in the development of the halal industry which is increasingly becoming the focus of various countries. Yogyakarta is considered to have potential that can be developed, including regional superior products such as gudeg which has the opportunity to be expanded to the international market.
The idea of exploring cooperation with the Ministry of Religion regarding the implementation of the Hajj and Umrah is also one of the agenda items that has emerged. This is aimed at opening up opportunities for superior products Yogyakarta to enter the consumption ecosystem for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
From Certification to a Halal Ecosystem
In explaining the track record HCY, it was stated that the organization which was born in 2018 has carried out various activities and collaborations in developing halal issues. These include the development of Beringharjo Market towards a halal market in 2019, Pentahelix FGD, Business Talk, discussion of Halal Slaughter Experts (JULEHA), participation in the SIBAKUL Halal program with the DIY Cooperative Service, Halal Talk, and involvement in organizing Jogja Halal Fest.
This experience became capital for HCY to expand his role. HCY is expected not only to facilitate halal certification, but also to be part of strengthening the ecosystem involving business actors, government, academics, communities, financial institutions and various other sectors.
The manifesto HCY presented at the meeting emphasized that the halal issue does not stop at consumer protection through guaranteeing halal products. The development of the halal industry also needs to be directed at creating added value, increasing productivity, strengthening competitiveness, expanding markets, and increasing benefits for society.
On this basis, HCY is directed to become a connector, driver and catalyst for collaboration in the halal ecosystem, not to replace the existing ecosystem, but to strengthen connectivity and capacity between parties.
Expand Cross-Sector Collaboration
A number of meeting participants also provided input to expand the scope of halal movements in Yogyakarta. From the health sector, for example, the idea emerged to strengthen the halal and sharia ecosystem in hospitals. Meanwhile, the education sector conveyed the importance of encouraging halal understanding so that it does not stop at products, certification, or the use of logos, but develops into part of people's lifestyle.
Participants also encouraged mapping various problems faced by MSMEs, formulating a value proposition HCY, strengthening strategic networks, halal education for producers and consumers, as well as a more relevant approach for the younger generation.
HCY is also expected to become a meeting space for various halal communities and movements from various fields. With this approach, halal issues can be developed through cross-sector collaboration while still prioritizing the potential and characteristics Yogyakarta.
HCY Ready to Support Jogja Halal Fest #3 International 2026
As part of the follow-up to the meeting, HCY expressed readiness to support the holding of Jogja Halal Fest #3 International 2026 on 4–6 December 2026 at JEC. This support is part of the 2026 International Road to JHF #3 series as well as a collaboration space to bring together various elements in the halal ecosystem.
In the meeting, the involvement of various agencies, communities, business actors, and halal startups was encouraged to become part of the series towards JHF #3. This momentum is expected to open up space for collaboration, exchange of knowledge, business development, and expansion of market access for halal products and services.
