YOGYAKARTA — The biggest halal industry event in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, Jogja Halal Fest (JHF) #3, was officially launched as a strategic step to strengthen the sharia economic ecosystem at the local, national and international levels. This event is scheduled to take place from 4 to 6 December 2026 at Jogja Expo Center (JEC).
Chairman of the DIY Sharia Economic Community (MES), Prof. Edy Suandi Hamid, stated that Yogyakarta has an important role and contribution in improving the sharia economic market in Indonesia. This third edition of the event was presented to optimize this potential.
"We hope that Jogja will play an active role, considering the huge sharia economic potential in this area, starting from the fashion industry, education, to Muslim-friendly tourism. It is hoped that this activity can be participated in by economic players on a local, national and global scale," said Prof. Edy at the launch event at the Bank Indonesia DIY office, Thursday 30 July 2026.
Public enthusiasm for Jogja Halal Fest was recorded to increase. The first edition attracted 33,000 visitors and the second edition 37,000 visitors. At the third event, the organizers are targeting an increase of at least two times as many participants from abroad increase.
Support also came from the DIY Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). JHF #3 is not aimed at just being a product exhibition, but is a sustainable movement that facilitates MSMEs to move up in class, penetrate international markets, and establish Yogyakarta as an innovative halal industry center.
Head of Representative Bank Indonesia DIY, Sri Darmadi Sudibyo, said that cross-institutional collaboration is the foundation for building an inclusive and competitive sharia economy. Sharia economics is seen as a new source of growth that can expand prosperity, strengthen MSMEs, and open business networks.
Jogja Halal Fest #3 is hosted by MES DIY and KADIN DIY. Information on the agenda, performers, booths and partnerships will be announced in stages via the official JHF channel.
